Statement of Intent
I have always enjoyed photographing trees, there is always something new to see as the year cycles through the seasons. My favourite season is winter when the trees reveal form and detail normally obscured during the summer months, and when a covering of hoar frost, or smothering of fog, creates mood and atmosphere.
It has been my intention to portray trees in a variety of settings; contrasting dimly lit forests with lonely hillsides, and bright sunny mornings with harsh winter conditions. My challenge has been to express my personal vision of trees through light, form, texture and relationships, and to do so in monochrome.
